In Lausanne’s Flon district, under the Grand-Pont on the east side of the abutment, a concert hall for contemporary music has been in operation since 2004. Inserted under arches 1, 2 and 3 of the Grand-Pont, the renovation we’re carrying out will increase capacity and intensify uses, making it possible to accommodate two independent concert halls developing over several levels, and allowing simultaneous concerts to take place.<\/p>\n

Breaking with the urban infrastructure of the Pichard belt, which appears as an immutable object, the concert halls are imagined as dynamic sequences. They articulate pre-existing built fragments with lighting and acoustic devices. Underground spaces become vibrant and inspiring places for music lovers.<\/p>\n

Construction is based on the principle of reuse, reusing elements already present on site and in the Lake Geneva region for the additional elements required. This sustainable approach, rooted in the local fabric, contributes to the city’s cultural and architectural richness.<\/p>\n

The meeting and music-sharing place that emerges from this astonishing intervention creates a complex and inclusive dialogue between heritage infrastructure, new infrastructure and Lausanne’s underground cultural heritage.<\/p>\n
