GIFF GENEVA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL: Immersive Scenography

The GIFF (Geneva International Film Festival), as a place of experimentation and innovation in the production of digital and immersive works, stands out for its adaptable scenography. Given the diversity of the works exhibited and their formats, the festival’s scenography constantly adjusts to accompany the evolution of distribution technologies, without hindering their potential.

Transitional experience: The aim of the scenography is to accompany the festival-goer from the street to the world of digital creation, offering a unique experience. This smooth transition between the real and virtual worlds takes place at two key moments: on arrival at the festival and on departure.

Visual adaptation: light intensities, transparencies and graphic cues create a fluid visual adaptation. As a result, festival-goers move seamlessly from the urban environment to the virtual world.

Sound Transition: The transition from city noise to virtual silence is carefully orchestrated. The sound experience evolves, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the cinematic narratives.

Thermal comfort: The transition between the cold outside and the warmth of the GIFF is subtly managed. Festival-goers feel enveloped in an atmosphere conducive to immersion.

Interaction and continuity: The scenography is based on a logic of interaction between the different media presented. It creates a continuous interior environment, an interface that highlights contemporary achievements. The flexible matrix of suspended textiles multiplies the sensations experienced by the festival-goer.
