How to make the presence of water in the Mojave Desert visible? To answer this question, we have mapped this invisible water and made a mobile GLACIER, making this presence visible.

This project makes visible the invisible water contained in the desert air. We have developed an adapted mapping system and a mobile GLACIER, which, by producing cold, allows water vapour to condense. This work is currently on display in Amboy, California.

Matza Amboy is halfway between the artist’s residency and the scientific research program. Artists, but also social scientists, engineers (solar energy, hydrology), architects and urban planners meet in the heart of the Mojave Desert to share their skills and create experimental works or projects.

They work around questions of territory, resources and commons, immersed in an extreme territory in which resource management becomes the critical element.
