RECEPTION INFRASTRUCTURE – POND OF THE GRUÈRE

The project for the Gruère Pond Visitor Center is an opportunity to design an architecture that emerges from the landscape and is articulated by the prevailing winds, the sun’s path and the watersheds.

Environmental factors meet the uses of the center and together they define the broad directions of the project.

Construction and materialization are defined by the regional resource pool. Grey energies are reduced to a maximum by working with spruce logs for the structure, straw for the insulation and clay soil for the coatings. The rafters are made of recycled concrete. The glazing and technical installations are the only “exogenous” elements linked to conventional supply chains.

This project is an architecture of transition for us, emerging from the site, the climate and the resources at hand to crystallize into an integrated public infrastructure.
